2019 Summer #ue4jam | August 8-13 | Theme: Make it count

Hello!
I have a question about two points:

  • The game must include custom gameplay that exceeds the gameplay found in Epic Games’ starter templates.
  • All art assets in the game must have a material other than the default applied to it.

Does it means that if i use First person template i must leave let’s say weapon and change it’s default material to other or what?

It simply means that you can’t submit an unedited version of one of our templates. Any adjustments, gameplay additions or modifications is considered a valid submission, but it must be noted as per the submission rules.

It’s referring to the WorldGridMaterial and the DefaultMaterial from Engine Content, not the material that defaults to the asset.

for the small project category
we do not need to include the prerequisite installer for ue4 games right?

That’s correct!

So I know this is stupid but, our team had uploaded our game to itch. Now we needed to submit it to the UE4 jam page. But we couldn’t…because our page was not public(yeah its our first jam). We realized it after the timer ran out. Can something be done about this or are we as good as out?

How do you avoid the issue of the special categories causing entries to be less likely to be finalists? It seems like if two games had a similar score, and one was entered into a special category, it’d be more likely that one was selected for the special category and the other becomes a finalist, rather than the same game in both. Always feels a bit risky entering one of those categories, maybe if you could shed some light on the process we’d know it’s fair. I can’t remember seeing special category winners also be finalists, from memory.

Hello. I can’t really find when will be the announcement of results. It’s in a couple of weeks or sth usually, but I still would love to know when to expect it

@VictorLerp

I noticed some have updated their details etc on their page.
(think I saw one upload again but ya’ll can handle that)

but my question is can we update info without hurting our upload time & our submission?
as far as that goes what changes can we make without hurting our entry?

oh our game submission: https://ayretek./it

Play IT!

Make IT Count !!

*note: the itch automatic app doesn’t always work! argh … but regular downloading does!

You can update the information on the submission form after the deadline, it won’t hurt your entry. I’d recommend you do it ASAP since we’re about to start judging!

We’ll announce the winners on the September 5th livestream. You can always keep an eye out on our twitch page if you want to know what our livestream schedule looks like!

Starting my summer #ue4jam 2019 submission playthrough marathon, where i gonna play all 220 submissions ^^ This time you will be able to rate entries with me so hop in, the more the better ;]

Submitted in a minute before the deadline xD

@Ashutosh897 @anonymous_user_befc2509 I have sent you a PM.

Hello!
My name is Zarif, I’m from Steppe Hare Studio. We are finalists of a current Summer Game Jam. Sorry for writing you here, but I don’t have any idea, who can help us and who can I write with this problem. It is sad in the rules of the game, that we must receive email about prizes during 09.08.2019 and answer it during next 72 hours. Write now is currently 09.09.2019 and we have not receive any messages from Jam organizers or sponsors. Official Rules states that:
“Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, Releasees are not responsible for computer malfunctions, network connections, email delivery problems, systems failure or incompatibility, typographical, technical or keystroke errors, or interruptions in your internet service, and for incomplete, illegible, misdirected, misprinted, late, lost, damaged or stolen notifications.”
This made us worry. What if the message was sent, but was lost and right now we don’t have any way of contacting the organizers to find out?

Can you help us?

P.S. I’m not a native English speaker, so this message will probably be full of mistakes. Sorry for that.

Hello!

I’m Kamil, co-creator of Solar from Solar Productions.
We are in the same situation as creators from Steppe Hare Studio. As a finalists of a Summer Game Jam, we haven’t received any e-mail from organizers or sponsors.

We would be really thankful if you could help us or let us know if there something we can do.

Thanks!

@Goblinnss @BonoTheBonkers Thanks for being proactive! There’s no need to worry, the emails have not been sent out and you can expect them within the next couple of days. I will update this thread once they’ve gone out to make sure that you’re aware in case there’s a technical malfunction that prevents the emails to reach you.

Is there anywhere to get FILMJAM questions answered?

  • Is live action + UE4 acceptable?
