ZELDA/OVERWATCH Particle Question

Can anyone suggest the best way of achieving the effect of having beams/rays extend from a ‘sphere/circle’?

I enclosed pics of the ways I found of trying to achieve this but they have major drawbacks, and I think I must be missing something…

Thanks for the help!! I think I may have found an easy fix for it - ‘Orient ZAXIS toward Camera’.

I’ll still make the material though, that might be a great idea!
