Use Gaea it is better then both of them
Iād have to see more details on Gaea, and if it will meet my needs.
The New Paradigm for Terrain Design
Modern and sophisticated, this standalone terrain creation suite introduces pioneering methods for fast prototyping, artistic control, and realistic results.
Gaea fluently combines the power of procedural construction with the intuitive methods of sculpting, and offers new cohesive workflows.
Gaea looks great, but itās CPU based so weāre back to hours+ long build times.
Gaea needs to provide documentation or much more detail on features and such, on their website. Iād consider a purchase, but itās just not enough information.
With the latest release of World Creator we now easily and FULLY support export for Unreal Engine - check www.world-creator.com.
Unfortunately Gaea seems to be pretty much a simulator. It doesnāt have and I donāt think they ever plan on introducing sculpting for example. Having said that, I do like itās node graph and wish WC would have something similar! There are certain things you can do with a node graph that you just canāt do in WC.
Cool, but there is no mention about anything related to WC2 > UE4 workflow on the website. Like, literally nothing is there besides UE4 logo.
Yes, there is a list of future developments that is there for quite some timeā¦ year+ btw
You mean exporting a terrain out of World Creator over to Unreal? That is of course possible - it works like a charm. We even added a drop down where you can select the game engine you want to export to. It then shows the proper scaling for Unreal and Unity and all that - very easy.
World Creator might not have node system but there is a reason why we did not include it. We had it in in a very early and internal prototype but it turned out to be annoying with all those wires and nodes to achieve something really great. Also, the UI messed up with all this - we did not like it at all. Just take a look at other apps where you have all these tons of nodes - honestly, is this the way it should be? Maybe it is a good thing for specific applications but not for World Creator
When do you plan on putting docs out? Iād like to read through how the whole things works with UE4 (preferably with a few tutorials to see workflow) before buying the software. Right now all we can go by is your word and UE4 logo on the official website.
Greetings, I was wondering if it would be possible to integrate into UE4 for realtime (in-game) generation of the terrain?
If not, how big is the terrain file? say for a 4km x 4km areaā¦ I am looking to create surface terrain for tenās of thousands of planets - generating it in real-time seems to be the best option IF the file is too large.
Regards,
We have uploaded a video created by one of our customers showing how it works in combination with Unreal. We will create a bunch on videos soon, too, but we need to first finalize the Mac version of World Creator.
A run-time integration into Unreal (or other engines) is already under development but still a long way until finished. We will announce it as soon as available.
The documentation can be download through our website (under DOWNLOAD).
Also, we have started a Landscape Competition and Unreal users may also create awesome renders to participate and do a lot of CASH
You should update your import to unreal video up to date!
Interested to recreate a city and its surrounding.
Did you know if WC is a good tool in working with real world data, and how is possible to recreate the buildings.
WC as far as I know does not use real world data, there is a product which has a plugin for Unrealās Datasmith called City Engine that you can download a trial here: Procedural 3D City Generator | 3D City Design for Urban Environments
Importing external heightmaps appear to be possible, will be nice if can import also OpenStreetMap streets and buildings. Did you know if WC itās able to do it.
Yeah, get on to Discord with themā¦ They are very helpfulā¦ They will help you get your WC2 terrain into UE4 manuallyā¦ Plus you learn UE4ā¦ Lets face it, haven control is better than a sync tool But give it time they will get it workingā¦ There program speaks for it self. Masterpieceā¦ WM did not even have GPU unless u pay much more by another company [GeoControl 2]ā¦ You get this all in one packageā¦ Just spend the time learning how to import it yourselfā¦ Watching a few Youtube how toās with a beer is fun also LOL Its the main program whats importantā¦ I remember Vista Pro on the Amigaā¦ How long did that take to do things LOL WC2 is Cool !
Iām pretty sure node system is not implemented (similar to what World Machine or Instant Terra have) and would be great addition for procedural map generation. Correct me if Iām wrong.
considering the amount of hacked softwares in the CG industry, this WC emails are not only brutal they are stupid. EULA terms are a nonesense but well, the world is made like this, so either u follow the rules either you donāt. Now assuming that everybody should agree to your terms to use your software makes sense, but it also makes sense that if he doesnt want to, YOU HAVE TO REFUND HIM. not āI willl call my motherā him. This is the case in every industry, you buy a house, shoes a car a nuclear missile, you changed your mind, u don t want to use it ? you get a refund because it s also the law.
