Our VR game visuals depend heavily on the use of the stencil buffer. We’re recently switched to the forward renderer and everything looks amazing and runs so much faster, however some aspects of our visuals are thoroughly broken without the stencil buffer being supported.
I need a straight up answer from one of the graphics devs at Epic as to whether support for the stencil buffer will be added to the forward renderer in the future and if so how soon. I see the mobile rendering pipeline how has stencilling, so there’s hope!
We’re looking to release soon and we’ll have to flip back to the deferred renderer for a while if there’s no plan to add it shortly.
I really need an answer on this please. Thanks in advance!
