Raytraced translucency has problems and achieving good looking glass objects is not possible currently in unreal.
So I wonder if translucency and refractions can be handled by lumen similarly to how reflections are right now.

You don’t need the reflection probes when using Lumen because Lumen is a hybrid ray tracer, therefore its tracing its light sources etc and within that reflection rays are cast out. It will be better with time and depends highly on the settings you are using.
