I am purchasing a laptop and I want to use it for the next few years without changing another, so I want the specs to be top enough. Now I am thinking about this laptop. Will it be able to run UE 4 smoothly and to handle most of the rendering and calculation as efficient as it could?
I know for me when I had only 8GB of RAM, that was horrible. Upgraded to 32GB and it works fine. Also, is your processor 2 core? When rebuilds (lighting, compiling, etc.) happen, having the extra cores are pretty nice!
Something to keep in mind.
Laptops are not always plugged in unless charging, and processors require A LOT of power. Meaning that no matter what processor you get there is still going to be some lag.
If it’s only 8GB of RAM, definitely upgrade that to 16 or 32. It’s easy to do even on a laptop but may void warranty. And I’d recommend an SSD, UE4 is heavy on the disk. Keep in mind, that the SSD will break sooner, when used heavily.
