Wild mesh distortion after retargeting blendspace

I have been struggling to get ALSv4 working with my character. Specifically I am trying to retarget the animations from ALS to my Daz Genesis 8.1 Male character. After spending a long time investigating how ALS works, I noticed a number of issues, but to keep this post simple I will list just one.

When attempting to retarget an ALS blendspace to my Daz character, for instance the Lean blendspace, all of the individual animations seem to retarget correctly, but when I open the blendspace itself and drag the preview around I get wild mesh distortions:

Because all of the individual animations used in the blendspace appear to work without distortion, I thought I would just create a new blendspace and drag the animations in and see if the result would be different. But I found that after I drag in one animation to the blendspace, I was unable to add more, dragging them in just does nothing:

My questions are:

  1. Why would retargeting the ALS blendspace result in mesh distortions, when the animations used in the blendspace appear to work correctly?

  2. Why am I unable to create a new blendspace and add more than one animation to it?

Thanks to anyone who can help here, this has been very frustrating for me lol
