I was curious about the fixed fps in games, why they are always fixed at 30FPS or 60FPS? Why not 45FPS?
If I will fixed my game at 45FPS, will it be a problem?
Standard display refresh rate is 60Hz, so games pick something that either matches or neatly subdivides into 60Hz. 45Hz would produce noticeable stutter where half of frames render twice as long as the other half.
The game that we are working on is for a console platform and we thought of fixing it at 45 fps because that is looking smoother in our early test than 30 fps. So 45 fps wont be a good idea then!
