why is UE5 packaging so much slower than UE4?

so I was creating a small personal project over the last day or two. Project is literally tiny, a small room full of some pictures, text and lights with basic code and a basic 1st person character.

started packaging the game over 15 and a half hours ago, and it hadn’t even gotten half way. At worst, UE4 took 2-3 hours for me.
was I doing something wrong here, or is packaging just a thousand times more demanding for UE5 for some reason?
