Testing to know RealityCapture behaviour regarding activation period shows that when "Activation Period” is set to 1 day on the token, RealityCapture is launched successfully after the one-day period.
I was expecting some kind of error message or inability for that token to be validated on Epic Games server.
My test scenario is as follows
- Create an Activation Token for CLI with Activation Period set to 1 day.
- Launch RealityCapture on two different PCs with Activation Token.
- With both PCs showing on my.licenses - Sign in - Capturing Reality********** as activated
- Leave RealityCapture open continuously on PCs for over a day with no Exit or Sign Out or Restart
- After more than a day, exit RealityCapture and relaunch RealityCapture successfully launches and is operational.
- Restart both PCs and launch RealityCapture RealityCapture successfully launches and is operational.
- License information on shows that the One Day Activation Token are in use.
The question is what is operational expectation of Activation Period set on an Activation Token for CLI? In this case why after using RealityCapture for over the one day period does it still successfully work?
In my instance, RealityCapture is used in an education establishment and the license purchased is a multiple seat Floating License.
Thanks.
Hi swlicensing,
have you created just one token? Were you able to use just that token on two computers for one license?
As you license is floating, this means you can run RC on your computers basically any time (until it is not active on some other computer). Activation period is for non floating licenses.
Thanks for replying.
Yes, I did create one token and my tests show that the same token can be in use at the same time on four PCs (I have two VMs and two standalone PCs).
Applications are deployed centrally here at this educational institution and the SCCM Application Package is configured in a manner where the .bat Token is a Start Menu shortcut. When a user clicks the shortcut from Start Menu, RC launches successfully.
Thanks once again.
HI,
thank you for your answer. Which of your licenses have you tested for this?
Hi again, I checked your account and as you are using floating licenses, then one token is used as a shared token for them. So with one token you can activate another free license on other computers.
Hi Ondrej,
Your last reply has covered everything, and I regard this as resolved.
We’ll be using the last token created in the RealityCapture Application Package that’s deployed for Staff and Students to use.
Thanks so much for your prompt replies and explanations
