Why developers in Belarus were blocked ? It is longer impossible to download UE4.

And list actually is too big; “… and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free” (V. Debs)

Just look here, please: http://www.treasury.gov/ofac/downloads/ctrylst.txt (use reg-ex “^\w+$” to search for countries names, list is hard to navigate other ways)

You could be surprised. There are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark and other possibly “unexpected” countries in the ban list. Of course the restrictions applied to countries remain blocked are most strong, but you should got my point, I hope.

is not fair. Our neighbors invaded souvering country - everything fine, russian comunity can use UE4. But freelancers from Belarus are blocked because of human rigths problems in our country , because of lack of OUR freedom. Shouldn’t sanctions targeting dictator and his goverment?

It was a mistake that is now in the process of being fixed. Here is the most recent info:

But accessing your home page and downloading the engine isn’t necessary doing commercial business with the individual who has downloaded it. Thus, I think you could leave navigate through the website, download the engine and play with it (not’s purpose is creating a commercial game, and not is an student). But once an individual wants to release a commercial game that’s when you can bring up the law not allowing you to do commerce with individuals in those countries. And therefor don’t make a contract with them. I still think IP blocking is an aggressive act no matter in what scale because no commerce is involved with accessing a web page or downloading a free software.
And thank you for effort you put into solving the.

would be cruel  . Individual should know that he can’t release commercial game based on engine from the very beginning before actual development. It would be Epic Fail if he invest into development and understand that he can’t do anything only during release

How should they know? by getting an IP error on the website? I believe no serious game developers start making commercial games without reading EULA/Business terms or something first and if Epic include those in there then the problem is solved. Instead of closing the download on in those countries they can add somewhere those 5 countries can’t do commerce with Epic until US law changes. So thousands of hobbyists and developers aren’t sacrificed for a few teams/studios who want to do commercial projects. Simply don’t make a commercial contract with them if you are obliged by US laws not to. My point is, if you are told you are not allowed to let people swim the river then don’t. Why put a dam on it?

So, any news, any progress so far? Just wondering if unblock happening today as planned or not.

Due to time difference between Europe and United States I wouldn’t expect anything before today’s night (Europe). So, for us it will be more likely tomorrow (Friday) when Epic will finish their work planned for Thursday.

My project is 80% ready how to deal with such situation?
I need to delete the project and forget about working with Epic?
Find a publisher who will representing my interests, and what about purchased subscription?
Legal paid subscribers should uninstall Epic software and port developed project to another engine?
Will Epic in a future made open access to technology for Belarus?
How to deal with a paid license subscription it will be withdrawn?

You need to read current page of the thread :stuck_out_tongue:

Thursday, while Belarus still available unreal :frowning:

Man, they are in US, other time zone, take into account. Moreover it was approximate estimation of course. There are lots of work for Epic team, wait a bit.

Quick update – we’re close to being able to test all the changes. Switching from blocking the website via IP at a lower layer to only blocking account creation and such in the application layer for the countries we absolutely cannot do business with has proven to be a bit trickier than expected. It wouldn’t be wise to push a change live late at night so current estimate is tomorrow unless we run into more issues. Sorry for the delay!

Can you please add Lebanon to the country drop down list? Theres is no Lebanon in fortnite or any epic related accounts.
Thank you

That is the plan

, don’t make mess in the forum. You already get attention to problem. Why would you not using proxy to download Epic Launcher, or ask friend to download it, what’s the problem? Even I can send it it to you

I’m sorry for the further delay. We were aiming for Thursday, but missed that deadline.

The web team and legal team at Epic have been working on throughout the week, and are still testing the changes required to unblock Belarus and Lebanon while remaining compliant with US laws.

We think we’ll be ready with Monday evening 2015-03-16.

Thanks for informing.

I have two questions:

Question 1:

Are we still eligible for the Unreal Dev Grants?

Question 2:

Maybe is not the right place to ask , but, for the last few month I’ve been working on a project that requires photogrammetry. I recently saw the Unreal Open World Kite Demo breakdowns, and I noticed that Epic have faced the same challenges that I went through. I was wondering, is it possible to contact one of the people that worked on demo? That worked on the asset creation part to be exact?
I was hoping I can contact him/her in private by mail or by video chat, it would really help me overcome some of the problems that I am currently facing.
Well, you see, I am trying to get funding for my project, so I entered my project in a few national and international competitions. That is why I cannot post much information about the project on the forums.
I would wait for the Kite demo to be released into the market place, that might answer a few of my questions, but, like I mentioned in a previous post, I am working on a deadline. One of the competition’s first round is in the next month.

Thank you

Belarus, Lebanon, and most other countries are now unblocked from accessing the UE4 website and downloading the software. Can people from these territories please try to download, and let us know if there are any problems?

Five countries remain blocked from downloading due to the requirements of US law: Iran, Syria, Sudan, Cuba, and North Korea. Teams anywhere in the world except these five countries are eligible for Unreal Dev Grants.
