i have a scene where i have some Buildings as Static objects and some Stationary/Dynamic objects such as Trees and Bushes. I have one Stationary directional light and a Static Skylight. Everything looks fine exept for the shadows of the Static buildings, because they are casting dynamic shadows as soon as i activate cascade shadows on my Stationay Directional Light.
Is there a way that i can use the Static Lighting on my Static Objects like setting the stationary light Dynamic Shadow Distance to 0 and getting dynamic shadows from the same light for my stationary and movable objects ?
I am a little confused how the different lighting/shadow options (also Distancefield Shadows) should fit together/ be used correctly.
You can’t mix and match when you enable cascade shadows on a stationary light. All of the baked stationary shadows will go away inside of the cascade distance. If the dynamic shadows are a problem, you should not use the cascades at all. Then your movable objects should still cast dynamic shadows.
You suggest to set the Dynamic Shadow Distance to 0 on my Stationary Direct Light ?
I think i tested it but then i get no dynamic shadows at all. I will test it on Monday when i am back in the office.
I did a very short test, so First picture is with a Static Light, Second With a Stationary light but no cascades enabled, Third Stationary with Cascades enabled and Fourth with distance Field Shadows. The Cubes are, from Right to Left, Movable, Stationary and Static.
You can see a Shadow quality difference between Static and Stationary light.
