Why are my Water's reflections rendering black?

I have copied the asset from the mobiletemple, and followed all the settings including water materials, sky, fog etc.But i finally got a poor result, the water appears black, and it does not have that good appearance. What is the problem?AAnd how can i create a realistic water on mobile? Thanks!

My first thought is that you don’t have anything under the water. Beyond that, hard to say without seeing a bit more of your game world, in my opinion.

It would also help to see your material. Do you have anything going into the color channel?

Thanks for the reply.I just copied the water materials from the Epic’s demo:mobile temple. And didn;t change anything.

If you literally copied and pasted epic’s material over to yours, then it should look exactly the same. It sounds to be as if you have missed something whether in the material itself, or settings in the material instance that they are using.

Try to capture some reflections near water surface and place some geometry above that to test.
the black portion represents that unreal is culling out the are that is not seen through camera.

Hi ,

There are two things that need to be done. The first, that has already been mentioned, is to add a Sphere Reflection Capture to your scene. The next thing you’ll need to do is go into World Settings and under the tab for Lightmass you’ll need to adjust the environment color to be something other than Black.

Having it set to black will cause the reflection to give this dark value. In the image below you can see that I’ve set mine to White and it’s a much better color for the water now.

Give this a shot and let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks!That works like a charm!
