Hi everyone,
I’m working on a scene in Unreal Engine 5 and using Lumen for global illumination and reflections. While the lighting looks great overall, I’m noticing that reflections on smooth/metallic surfaces (like mirrors, glass, or polished floors) don’t look very accurate — objects are either missing or appear distorted.
Here’s what I’m experiencing:
- Reflections update incorrectly or feel delayed
- Some objects close to reflective surfaces aren’t visible in the reflection
- The angle of reflection sometimes feels slightly “off” or blurry
Here’s my current setup:
- Lumen Reflections enabled (Screen Space + Software Ray Tracing)
- No hardware ray tracing (running on non-RTX card)
- Using default Post Process settings
Questions:
- Is this a limitation of Lumen reflections without hardware ray tracing?
- Would enabling hardware ray tracing give me more accurate mirror-like reflections?
- Are there alternative ways to get clean planar reflections in UE5 with Lumen?
Any help or guidance would be appreciated! Just trying to find the best way to get sharp and accurate reflections in my scene.
Thanks in advance!
