Which is better, more megapixels or more images?

Sorry if this isn’t the right place for this question, I’m a noob. For realitycapture, for some objects I want to do 3D video with a model, and for others I want to 3D print a miniature.

I have two DSLRs, a 7D and an R7. The 7D has 18MP, the R7 has 32.5. Since the cost is based on images x megapixels, how can I best spend my money, use the 7D and take more images, or use the R7 and less images, to equate the two costs?

I can see the possibility that 32.5 might be a diminishing returns such that it doesn’t provide much additional advantage, while I assume that more images will always yield significantly better results. What do you think?

Hi ArceeDub,
it is hard to same, but probably with more images you will cover the model more which should result to better model. Also, you can combine both cameras and use the advantages from both for model and texture creation.
