Hi all
I’m trying to find the “kinematic collider” that the GDC 2024 presentations talked about
Anyone been able to figure it out?
Seems like it’s using a mesh instead of a capsule

To answer my own question, it’s in the full release of 5.4 - and there are details in Tim Brackensiek’s new UE5.4 doc, for the kinematic collider.
But I’ve tried following the instructions and I think there’s things missing - I’ll wait until the Project Talismen demo is released. Maybe that will be easier to just “copy”.
For me, I bring in the static mesh as per instructions, set up the selection etc. but yeah it doesn’t do anything, and remains visible in the viewport (the gray full static mesh version of the metahuman is visually still there). It’s quite hard to problem solve for me
hey have you found out any more about this? I feel like no one is talking about this, it’s the the ML Deformer all over again. They showcase it then never show us how to do it…
There has been more movement yes - check out the comments on Tim brakensieks documents. But unfortunately it doesn’t work for any of us yet. I am guessing that Tim and the team are working on trying to fix it? Many many people have tried to make it work, using the step by step docs and also Tim’s example files that he uploaded in the comments. But yeah, unfortunately on our versions of unreal it doesn’t work.
Here’s each doc - on each, if these links don’t go directly to the comments, find the “comments” button and click it:
