Even if PT is implemented on Mac I don´t think you could be able to use it with your M1Max MacBook cause it lacks of ray tracing hardware acceleration, you´ll need at least an M3 macbook that has ray tracing hardware acceleration, M2 and M2 series dont have. It happens the same on windows, you need at least an Nvidia RTX or Radeon RX series 6000+ gpu with 8gb of vram to able to use path tracer.
