Hey Unreal Community,
So I’ve spent the best part of few days constructing this Jukung Model sail boat to use in my first game. I have modelled it in Blender and can get a relatively nice UV map of the boat itself but the Ropes and all the finer detail has been completely disorientated and looks terrible in Unreal. Literally every face on the boat has the correct normals with blue faces but I’m struggling to figure out the best way to unwrap the UV’s for the Rope. I have tried marking them as seams but that didnt work and also marking edges as hard or sharp and that didn’t help with the rope at all. Any help anyone can provide me would be great or advice on how other people prepare UV maps for complex models for export to be used in Unreal. I have attached a few pictures to show the model and problem I’m dealing with. Thanks in advance to anyone that can assist!
As you can see in the pics from Unreal above the rope is barely recognisable and in some spots on the mesh the rope has totally been removed around the pontoon and outrigger the rope that was there simply didnt make it to Unreal at all. Any help would be epic.
