I am not saying specifically that people in this thread are whining, as this isn’t the only thread, or the only community, where the game has received a lot of attention, as well as a lot of hate. You’re setting up a false dichotomy by stating that the game is objectively broken - either you’re right, or I am wrong, and there can be no further discussion in that regard. Oddly enough, some people like it based on the steam reviews.
I’m not defending the game, I just don’t see the point in pulling out the pitchforks. Games like this have always been made, and will always be made, yet a lot of developers are taking this as a to stand on a podium and look down on this game and its creator.
I don’t understand this logic, and I don’t know why this is a path you would pursue given your disdain of Accidental Runner, but go for it. Is that the type of developer, or person, you want to be? Is that the game you really want to make?
When developers take this route, gamers remember - it’s one of the reasons I don’t pre-order, I don’t kickstart, and I don’t greenlight unless I’ve had some hands on experience with the game. Too many false promises, too many broken, and unfinished games in my steam library.
I’m of the believe that people should really be focusing their time and their energy toward creating something , rather than tearing something down that is not.
See this thread is mainly attempting to bring the situation up to other developers so they do not follow the example set forth by the creator of this game. That’s it.
The last thing that’s needed is more games like this.
We’re not tearing the game down we’re making a point.
I for one don’t want another game like this to come out.
Look I can commend the developer for making a game, but when it’s like this make it free. Don’t charge people money. It’s unfair and it isn’t right.
You have to understand this is an INDEPENDENT game. If independent game developers make games like this, what does that mean for the Independent developers that make games with a passion? To the general consumer an independent developer is an independent developer. That person may think twice about backing a game with a good premise or engrossing idea because this Independent game left a bad taste in their mouth.
For all we know people will thik twice about kickstarting, or greenlighting a game because of this.
As for my “development plan” I was obviously being sarcastic. Anyone who makes that their game development motto should not be making games.
This isn’t a waste of time. It’s a discussion and a warning. If you feel like YOUR time is being ill used here, that’s on you.
The people here just wanted to find some common ground.
No game can be perfect, but when your commercial game lacks even a basic menu there’s a major problem (objectively broken). Even if it was a first attempt, that doesn’t justify what the developer released. At least state the problems before people buy into it.
The developer has cost people money and time.
Here’s to hoping his next game is better and that he learned valuable lessons about game development.
I have the same opinion as you and think likewise, if it was free I would sure as heck download it and try it in a heart beat (seemed hilarious to me), but wouldn’t pay for it. If I made a game like THAT I would at least make it free. at least they couldn’t complain TOO much ;D
I think I like it for the same reason I watch all those B movies about dinosaurs and sharks (especially on shark week), it is so bad it is hilarious.
personally I think this is an great example of what the game industry is sadly becoming. Bad game, Bad price, Bad everything. Now I’m just waiting for the Accidental runner DLC! It allows you to run faster! (I’m being sarcastic. )
Selling a game which is only made up of unreal assets is one thing, but this clown hasn’t even altered the map from the vehicle game from the learning tab.
BTW what do you guys think about a game named “the worst game in the world” should I sell one of the asset demos that come with UE4 and call it the worst game in the world? LOL how much money you think I would get from that?
I should think the refunds option put paid to his game. (I doubt anyone played it for more than the requisite two hours, and I think the initial refund period was six months when the refunds were first introduced).
Air Control has also gone the way of the dodo. I would not be surprised if it was for the same reason. Good riddance to both.
