What am I missing? Surface Properties

I am new but I have watched a ton of videos on UV and changing the scaling of the rendering so that walls and the ground look proportioned to what is around them and their “True” size base on in game role. Most of these videos claim to use the base intro starting set up. I have followed the steps but one major thing is not making any sense… They are adjusting the UV in the details tab under Surface Properties. That never shows up for me.

I can find videos that show how to change the UV but I have to make new parent/ kid files and save the new materials and textures and instancing and more. But some of these videos are not doing anything like this.

So I make a Cube, Get the Material that I want it made of, let the computer render it and can’t scale it since the Surface Properties don’t show up.

Can any one link me a Video or a page that shows how people are using the base setup and are able to get the Surface Properties to show up? Can any one help fill in this major gap I have?

I’ll lay money on it being a material parameter.

Once you’ve put it in the material, it will be available in the material instance:

Anyway, adjusting the tiling is not going to help with the proportion of the object.

Can you give a line ( and time ) to any of these vids?

Here is just one of the videos I saw. I see there are many ways to get this done but this programmer just throws a couple of blocks down and there it is. When he clicks on the face, Surface Properties pops up for him to change the UV on the fly. for that one face of the cube.

I envy some of you as I am just starting and trying to learn. I’m just a writer. I have a game (MMO) and 6 expansions to go with it and I have a working and tested card game to go with it so this is my first step. So if I have to make bunch of extra files and change a bunch of things ok but I have to tip my hats to some of you. Those some of you are like little Bob Ross’s here…

NM. I got it. I’m just not going to be using a lot of Mesh for a lot of things. Geo shapes get almost everything I want done but I know I’m going to run into problems soon enough. To prove that, I have a hollow cylinder with stairs in it and when I try to add a “Floor” using the Box Geo, the floor cuts right thru everything and does not “Wrap” around the cylinder.

So much to learn. TY for the reply CWO
