Hey guys
I’m facing a small issue with my player flashlight.
When using the flashlight in the vicinity of any lightsource, it works correctly and I’m seeing my flashlight texture, as in picture 3. However, as soon as I stand in a dark spot (see pic 6 with the big x) where there is no light and turn the flashlight on while facing the darkness, then the cone of the flashlight gets some really strange shading, pic 4. This is happening all across my project, ever since I’ve switched to Forward shading. I also get this in my brighter levels as well, though not as pronounced as here.
I’ve tried changing every light setting and the only thing I’ve been able to find out, is that if I disable the light function which holds the flashlight texture, the spotlight works correctly every time. So it seems the light function is the culprit. However, I haven’t changed any settings there and the setup is similar to what other people use for their flashlights. I’ve also tried changing the texture but to no avail.
I do need those completely dark spots in the game, as it’s a horror game I’m making, but I can’t figure out how to get rid of this weird cone shading. I’d greatly appreciate any help or pointers. Thank you
