Hello good people of UE nation. I am self taught archviz-(other side of spectrum from artist). Recently iam trying to see what are limitations of unreal engine pathtracing for my archviz and today topic is water. i think the question is more about some setting than water material. I used water from content Plugins > datasmith content content > materials > water. what i cant figure out is that water is moving and when i switch to pathtracing from Lumen it keeps mowing and its smoothing water surface as if doing long exposure instead of freezing frame in time. Is there way to stop water from moving and still have control of all the parameters like waves, opacity, flow, etc? Thank you very much for your time to whoever will give me some pointers.
That almost worked, but it stops Pathtracer from rendering. Works in Lit.
That’s unfortunate. Have you tried rendering with Movie Render Queue? maybe it’s not an issue when actually rendering.
The only other thing I could think of is disabling the water flow in the water material itself.
Ok that did the trick should have tried actual render before making post. But Water has 0 opacity or translucency with pathtracer And i was so happy to finally get somewhat realistic water. So hunt for Pathtraced water material begins. Thank you for your help

Water is disabled by default in raytracing, so you have to enable it: r.RayTracing.Geometry.Water 1
To freeze the waves, do: r.Water.FreezeWaves 1
