As in the subject, using Epics water plugin. When trying to ‘make holes’ in water surface with DistanceToNearestSurface material node, it works on my pc rig but on laptop whole water surface is gone. Main difference being one has amd and other nvidia gpu. Tried changing RHI type and supported shader model on both, same effect.
turns out this is related to quality settings and this bug:
bringing shadows quality from low to medium ‘fixes’ the DistanceToNearestSurface test
