washed out emissive colors

howdy folks, long time listener first time caller here. as the title suggests i have emissive colors washed out. every tutorial i look up doesn’t even have this issue. textures are set to sRGB and disabling tonemapper doesn’t fix the issue though it does mess up all the background models. lol.

So lets get down to it. below are pictures, one is what the model looks like without lighting in substance painter than we got the washed out one in unreal, as well as material blue print and a picture of the one of the textures which unreal seems to import fine but the moment i want it rendered unreal seems to think its got better ideas about art direction than me.

no matter how much i adjust saturation and contrast i can’t fix this mess so help would be appreciated.

oh, I’m on version 5.4.2.

Change the shading model to unlit. You have a white base color, and your emissive is being added on top. Emissive values in a lit shader effectively turn your mesh into a lightbulb.

Thanks @BananableOffense ! for those who are wondering how this got fixed I’m not sure the tuning is finished but setting it to unlit cutting the emissive value in half made a big difference. thanks!
