Warning: Known issues with intel graphics driver

I had a problem running ue5.2.1 (see attached warning popup)
on my windows10 dell XPS 8920 workstation
intel(R) HD Graphics 630
driver version currently installed 27.20.100.8854
which is the latest driver available on the Dell website.
The warning said I needed
driver 30.0.101.1340
but I could not acquire that driver version from the Dell website.
I installed ue4.27.2 and it launched the unreal editor successfully.
I will not be able to try out UE5.2 until this gets resolved.
Can an option to “run anyway” please be added to the windows version of UE5.2?

hi @willanie42 ,
It does not exist anymore its been taken down, basically it crashed the unreal DX12 driver and you should use the manufacturer driver andd ignore the error message

@Jimbohalo10
I dont understand what you are saying.
The UE5.2 editor crashed after I clicked yes on the popup.
Is this issue fixed in UE5.3?

thanks @Jimbohalo10
making the edit to UE5.3.0 worked

as outlined in the post link editing this file
C:\Program Files\Epic Games\UE_5.3\Engine\Config\BaseEngine.ini
worked for me on my windows10 dell XPS 8920 workstation
intel(R) HD Graphics 630
driver version currently installed 27.20.100.8854

after launching UE5.3.0 click on the “no” button when the warning pops up

@Jimbohalo10 your suggestion to modify BaseEngine.ini
helped me to get Unreal Editor to launch but now I get a warning popup
that says due to an attempt to launch DirectX 12 advanced rendering features like Nanite and Virtual Shadow Maps will be prevented from working.
Is there a way to resolve this?
Attaching a snapshot of the popup.

hi @willanie42 i found this post which seems to fix this inside every projects settings
New BUG (regression) fix for SM6

Hi @Jimbohalo10 .
Thank you for trying to help me resolve this issue.

I took a look at the post. It suggests to do the following.
switch to SM6 to solve the problem—go to Project Settings → Platforms → Windows → D3D12 Targeted Shader Format → SM6
I opened the project settings and the D3D12 was already set to SM6. So this will not fix my shader format problem.

hi @willanie42 ,
I have looked into this every new project will go to Default RHI DX12.
In effect you have to change this to DX11, then the message will go away. Nanite supports DX11, but Lumen, Global illumination etc is not support as the Intel HD graphics are CPU based and do not have a true GPU, only software simulated.

Basically all Unreal Engine versions are based on Nvidia GPU family so there are similar problems with AMD Graphics cards. The latest Intel drivers for HD and UHD Software simulated DX12 support. I have an Intel UHD card, but you are just left with very very slow Rendering of Lumen shadows as software simultation works alright if you use Scalability LOW, anyway Lumen only really starts when Scalability is set EPIC or Cinematic and needs at least and RTX 2000 card.

Summary
change default DHI to DX11 and tick this SM6 box in D3D12 Targeted Shader Formats, restart project and the error message goes away.

Dell do NOT suppport the new DX12, Intel HD drivers software simulated this
