Walking backwards

I am using the Phase character from Epic. I am working on 3rd person games and player character movement is controlled using the traditional WASD keys. Currently when the player presses “S” the character reverses orientation and moves towards the camera. I do not want this. Like many 3rd person games I want the character to walk backwards while still facing forwards and away from the camera. The effect being that the character is backing away from something.

There are a collection of Jog Backwards animations which I would like to use. I realise that there is probably not a straight forward answer.

Hi,

Go to the Character Blueprint and adjust the setting below in Class Defaults and Character Movement.

You should get the results you’re after. Hope it helps.

Seems to make no difference at all. And to be honest I cannot see from your solution where the playing is “walking” backwards. I’ll try again in another project as I have been playing around with the input options in this one.

Ah. The animation is still the forward animation so looks odd. But I’ll work on this. If you have any ideas they’d be appreciated. Thanks again for the progress
