Vulkan Is Now Official With API 1.0

Just as I thought. Thanks for the clarification and information. Do you have an idea on when will Vulkan be implemented in UE?

I assume it already has been, Epic have just been waiting for the greenlight to include the VulkanRHI module itself into the public build, so maybe 4.12.

Is the Vulkan stuff in the master branch? You could test it there.

Just tested it, it’s also not in the master branch. I guess we’ll have to wait until GDC

Yeah, can’t wait what Epic will say about D3D12, Vulkan, and their impact on future Unreal Engines

And hopefully they are not going to talk too much about the Windows Store, UWP, and UWA “drama”, although it does bring some awareness to me about Universal Windows Platfrom as a sandbox platform for UWA (which seems to me like a double edged sword, can be both good and bad at the same time).

According to this video, Vulkan has been incorporated into Unreal Engine. Don’t know which version though, but UE4+Vulkan will be demoed in Mobile World Congress 2016 as part of Samsung Galaxy S7 tech demo I think.

It was already shown at the congress^^

They did a livestream a few hours ago about Vulkan, check it out

I wrote a small tutorial about how to use it

How to use Vulkan in Unreal Engine 4

Awesome!

Now all we need is a video that shows the difference in performance (and quality?) between DX11, DX12, and Vulkan, using UE4.

I tried the tutorial, Installed Vulkan SDK, Latest Nvidia Driver, Build Unreal Master Branch (which for some reason says 4.12) and edited the shortcut but it wont work

In July we’ll get SM5 level of Vulkan Support
SM4 Vulkan Support in June, SM5 Vulkan Support in July, thanks Epic! - Feedback for Unreal Engine team - Unreal Engine Forums!
