VR Game Template

Well, I downloaded the code, but I’m having a problem getting it to run. I’m on 4.12.4. I tried both the git version and the OneDrive version, template and “copy to project folder”.

The last part of the error log is as follows:

I also sometimes get http errors in the build log, but drove to the local Starbucks and got past that, so that’s not the problem.

Any ideas?

Whoops, never mind - posted to the old thread; I reposted to the new thread. n00b and bandwidth constrained … sorry!

Will it work on 4.19?

If you’re asking me, it’s an old thread, I am using the SteamVR system now, and the prebuilt templates. They work much smoother.

Hello, Can you elaborate on these pre built templates? I much prefer Oculus, but in 5 years of searching, spending hundreds on ‘Game Kits’ , I have yet to find a way to have
1). VR hands,
2). A gun one can pick up and fire in VR and
3) any form of NPC /AI BOT that stops firing and dies when you fire at it!

I have hundreds of examples of ‘each’ in separate Projects, but am having trouble envisioning how to incorporate them (and suspecting there will be at some point,. (it’s FPS!). I would rather keep working, animating my vast world… )

I followed a listing at Reddit/Unreal for years: “VR FPS template project from Epic?” https://www.reddit.com/r/unrealengin…ect_from_epic/. but it never got a single reply,… finally closing commentless 4 years ago…

4 years later, if one searches: ‘Unreal VR Pickup GUN NPC’. on Google, MY QUESTION on forum is the first thing Google gives back…
https://forums.unrealengine.com/deve…at-is-killable. You can see the quality of “answers” I’m getting, (precisely what I hoped to avoid by explaining myself preemptively) …

All I could say in reply is:

I didn’t ask for “every possible game as a free template”! Just a single example that incorporates the two most common VR game traits. I had hoped to save OTHERS time by mentioning, , incorporating them IS the problem I am having, so no one would,. “answer” by telling me to incorporate them, (wasting their time. ;( ),.

As I mentioned pointedly, I learn best via a sort of, instant global macro understanding that only arises out of reverse engineering a clear example. It is not an invalid way to learn,…it is exponentially faster, given there is a clear example available! With endless new things to learn, I tend to put things like off, until I can learn them in 5 minutes instead of 5 days or weeks of struggle and hair pulling with rote and ROUNDABOUT tutorials … ;).

Perhaps it seems like ‘cheating’? I worked in Hollywood doing CGI for 25 years -Character Animation… -due to that, I do things the fastest way I can by … instinct…

Thank you for your time…
