VR Game Template

Does anybody else have their character standing at an odd pose when the game starts? I cant seem to figure out how to correct the pose so the character is standing normal. Any help would be much appreciated. My sensor is placed about 5 feet up looking down.

My question is oriented towards teleport function, I’ve had tried few solutions without result and i am not sure where problem is (or is it specific because of the template itself).
My character teleports at specific location and that works just fine, problem is rotation and how to set it up so it will be rotated at specific object or wherever it should be.

I can’t get ActivatedbyPlayer event to fire for some reason :frowning: don’t even know where to start debugging from. I am beginning to think it’s not implemented yet.

answering my own question, it indeed wasn’t implemented. just went into the VRPlayerConrtroller and connected the interface message to player input:


triggering the action using the ActivatedByPlayer event then becomes trivial

yes me… seemed to help if I angle the Oculus positional tracker down a bit. I guess it was positioned too close to me on the monitor, makes oculus think you are bending over.

Thank you for making awesome VR template. As a lone artist with no programming skills, template has been the backbone of everything I create in VR. Unfortunately with v4.9 of unreal, some of the template seems to be no longer working, and fails when trying to package a game. Do you have any plans to release an update for 4.9? Or perhaps a VR template on the marketplace? Thanks

If has stopped developing entirely, I might try to make something similar, but don’t want to step on any toes if he plans on updating it anyway.

Didn’t look so good, last Update was in Dec 2014 and last Post from him at the Forum March 2015, but last activity was today, strange. ^^

I wouldn’t worry about stepping on toes - steal it and add your own improvements, we’ll all come out better for it and I’m sure he’ll appreciate it. Send him a courtesy email, you might find there are things he’d like you to implement that he hasn’t had time or motivation to do himself.

Yeah, I’ve talked to him previously, back when he first put and his Hydra plugin out. He seemed like a pretty chill guy. At the moment I’m crunching for the Gear launch though so I don’t know if I’ll have time to put one out in the next month or so.

The reason I bring it up as stepping on toes is because I was already considering making a huge all-in-one VR plugin to put on the marketplace. One that actually works properly with gaze-interaction, multiplayer networking, etc. A lot of the stuff in template was hard-coded to not work on network.

Hi guys I’ve been reading some of the post, I was wondering if any of you can help me to finish my project, Everything is working fine but every time I put the oculus and turn to fast I get some weird behaviors, I tried some demos from the marketplace and everything there look good and smooth. So, maybe I’m doing something wrong. Any ideas?

is exacc tly what I was looking for just to start.
but whcih version of unreal launcher and runtime of oculus does it work?

I’m on 4.10.0.p3 and oculus runtime 0.8.0 beta for win10 and first I’ve got ton of loading errors just from start

With regards to the VR spaceshooter. In 4.8 - in the dk2 it goes all pixelated as soon as you move. is only in the VRspaceshooter template, the other VR template works a treat.

I am sure its something to do with the bounds but wanted to ask if you or anyone else knew how to fix this :

Does template use raycasting for all the time based interaction components?
