VR Editor mode working on Quest 3 UE 5.4.2

I’m on UE 5.4.2 with Quest 3. ‘VR Edit’ mode crashes UE with the message “Assertion failed: IsStereoEnabled() [File:C:\UnrealEngine\Engine\Plugins\MetaXR\Source\OculusXRHMD\Private\OculusXRHMD.cpp] [Line: 1732]”. Regular VR is working, both PCVR and native Android standalone. I’m not sure what to do here.

I have a few question for you.

Are you using Epic launcher Unreal version 5.4.2 or Source code from github ?

Latest version of MetaXR is for Unreal 5.4.1 not 5.4.2.

Are you using my MetaXR version for 5.4.2 from here Releases · truefranco/MetaXRv65 · GitHub ?

I’m building UE 5.4.2 from official release branch from github. Not the oculus fork. I’m using the official plugins for MetaXR and MetaXRPlatform. My Quest 3 has v66 installed. What is your recommended alternative? Have you gotten VR Editor mode to work with your recommendations?

If you need 5.4.2 I recommend using the Epic launcher 5.4.2 and use my MetaXR v65 binaries posted here Releases · truefranco/MetaXRv65 · GitHub
So far everything work out of the box.

Just unrar the files in your Engine/Plugins/Marketplace folder.

Right but all normal builds are already working for me. Both native Android packages and PCVR builds work fine on the headset with my setup. It is only ‘VR Editor’ mode that isn’t working. It would be a lot of work to switch to your recommended setup if no one has yet verified VR Editor mode as working on it.

You can also try to compile my MetaXR source code but I can not help you if you encounter any issue.

Thank You. I’ll have to wait till next week to try.

I think a better question for me to ask is if anyone has gotten VR Editor mode to work at all.

Let me check if it crash or not I tell you in a few.

Awesome Thanks!!

Well I tried but only thing I`m getting when activate VR Editor mode in editor preferences is a message stating this is a beta feature.
Nothing happen, I dont see VR Mode button like in Unreal 4.27 that you can activate to enter.

Thanks for the attempt. I appreciate it.

Well I enable virtual production and virtual scouting. Then set the interaction mode to virtual scouting. Then I have to do a desktop build. Then the VR Editor mode option shows up properly and it attempts to enter the mode when I press the button, then crashes.

I fiddled around a little bit more and got it to enter VR Editor mode without crashing but in the headset the video has all kinds of artifacts. Kind of garbled. I can barely make out the scene.

Even then the editor widget or gizmo, whatever it’s called, won’t popup in VR.

I got it working. For some reason, I had to fiddle with the arrow keys on the keyboard. After pounding on them for a few seconds, then the controllers came into view and everything started working. The controllers too. Makes no sense to me.
