I’m using Exponential Height Fog and ticking on Volumetric Fog (Lumen).
I also increase the View Distance to a large amount to cover my scene,
Problem is that I get banding in the fog in the render when I have multiple lights (rendering 4k with super sampled 8K). Are there any particular settings in the console commands (or other places) that I can increase to get more smooth fog?
There is a number of “Z slices” for the volume “texture”, which will make the quality increasingly worse as you have higher volume distance.
Two things to keep in mind then for the quality:
1: Keep the volume distance just as high as you need, and not higher
2: Increase the r.VolumetricFog.GridSizeZ, default is 128. A few tests to far, 512 crashes my render and 256 works fine with much much better volume quality
