Audio
Steps to Reproduce
Launch Fortnite on PC.
Open Settings.
Go to Audio / Voice Chat settings.
Enable Proximity Chat.
Set the Voice Chat Output Device to a specific output device, such as Chat (TC-HELICON GoXLR).
Join a Proximity Chat enabled island/session.
Notice that Fortnite detects and displays the selected output device, but voice chat audio does not play through it.
Expected Result
Voice chat audio should play through the selected Voice Chat Output Device.
Observed Result
Fortnite detects and displays the selected Voice Chat Output Device correctly, but when Proximity Chat is enabled, the actual voice chat audio does not route to that selected device. The setting appears to update in the UI, but does not apply to the actual audio output.
This issue appears to happen specifically when Proximity Chat is enabled. When Proximity Chat is disabled, the Voice Chat Output Device routing seems to work normally.
This does not appear to be an external mixer/interface configuration issue, as the selected device is detected by Fortnite and routing works correctly outside of this Proximity Chat scenario.
Please follow the instructions given by Googling āTC-HELICON GOXLR Fortniteā
To configure your TC-Helicon GoXLR for Fortnite, separate your audio into distinct Windows channels. Assign your PCās Default Output to the System channel and the Fortnite game audio to the Game channel. Set your input to Chat Mic. This allows you to independently balance your game volume and team comms using the GoXLR faders. [1]
1. Windows Audio Settings
Proper routing ensures your stream, your voice comms, and the game operate independently.
Playback Device: Right-click the speaker icon in your Windows taskbar ā Open Sound Settings. Set your Default Output Device to System (GoXLR).
Communication Device: Set your Default Communication Device to Chat Mic (GoXLR).
Fortnite Audio Output: Launch Fortnite, go to Settings > Audio, and set the Sound Output Device to System (GoXLR).
2. GoXLR App Setup & Microphone Optimization
Your microphone needs to be configured in the GoXLR App so your teammates can hear you perfectly.
Go to the Mic tab and run the Mic Setup wizard.
Select the type of microphone you are using (e.g., Dynamic for the Shure SM7B or GoXLR Mic).
Adjust your Gain until your voice hovers in the middle (the āGoodā range) on the meter while you are speaking normally.
In the same tab, dial in a Noise Gate (starting around \(-43\) dB), add a touch of Compressor (around \(-15\) dB), and toggle the De-Esser to about 50% for broadcast-quality audio without lag. [1]
3. Voice Changer (Proximity Chat Trolling)
One of the most popular ways to use the GoXLR with Fortnite is for in-game Voice Changer features. [1]
Open the Voice FX tab in the GoXLR app on your PC.
You can select and customize effects like Megaphone, Robot, Hardtune, or Pitch Shift.
Assign your customized Voice FX presets to the dedicated FX buttons on the physical GoXLR hardware, allowing you to toggle them on or off instantly when engaging with other players in proximity chat. [1]

There is a good YouTube video (pause press dot) and step through app setting,
Thanks, but the guide you pasted explains GoXLR basics. The bug report is about Fortnite recognizing the selected output device and still not using it.
