Vive Trigger vs Vive Trigger Axis

Hi!

What is Trigger used for? And Trigger Axis?

I’m trying to setting up an Input Mapping Context and I have found that there are two buttons (or whatever is called) referring to the Trigger.

Thanks.

One returns bool and the other returns float :innocent:

When you wanna only detect if the button is pressed, you’d use the bool value. You can still detect if the button is pressed with a float type value as well, by checking if it’s greater than 0, but it gives you more info. Take the mouse input axis for example, the float type action value is higher the faster you move the mouse.

Thanks.

What is each used for?

Seems like I’ve already responded before you could revise your follow up question by deleting the original and posting the new one

Do you have any further questions?

When have I ever done that?

When I saw your answer, I realised that it was not what I wanted to ask. That’s why I changed my question. As my first language is not English, it is logical that this happens. If you think it’s funny, I really don’t know what to say.

I think there’s a misunderstanding. I didn’t had such a thing in mind while typing my previous post. The laughing emoji was my reaction to the order of the posts. Because to a future viewer it will seem like the answer is posted before the question. So there’s no such situation as you thought

Anyways, I’m glad to hear that you have no further questions
In that case, you can close the topic.

Cheers!

I’m checking the VR Template and I have found this in the IMC_Menu:

I have opened the IA_Menu_Interact_Left and IA_Interact_Right and both returns a bool instead of a float (as you said).

Where can I find out what value actions like Vive Trigger or Vive Trigger Axis return? I’m asking if there is any documentation on this.

Thanks.

Don’t get me wrong, I love helping others. But you ignored my two private messages where I reminded you to close your past unresolved topics in the first one and asked you to explain your reason behind such an action in the second. They weren’t relevant to this topic, but still, I don’t appreciate your attitude. I won’t continue helping someone who doesn’t show me proper respect. Take care.

Are you talking about something like this?

I don’t think it’s respectful, no matter how much you try to justify it.

Your intention is not to provide assistance, but rather to gain prestige by having your answer accepted. This is not a constructive approach.

There’s a misunderstanding on your side.

I don’t care about your views on me  Me and the good people I was able to help value each other, and that’s what matters to me.
