So i stopped working on my project for like 3 weeks. And now when i open it. This is what happens. It stays stuck on this “Working on it…” endlessly.
I tried updating visual studio, tried modifying some stuff, so far nothing works.
What should i do?
Should i uninstall, and install visual studio again?
Edit:
Okay so it seems that there must be some kind of inconsistency because this started happening since i installed visual studio 2022.
Now only Visual studio 2022 can open the project. VS 2019 shows the same issue below:
How can i make it run from VS 2019? I prefer it because its more lightweight.
VS2022 is taking 3 x more time to launch, yikes.
Hello there @SophiaWolfie!
Considering Epic’s docs on the matter, VS 2019 is no longer supported since UE 5.4, so this scenario depends on which version of Unreal are you currently working with. Besides that, these type of problems are always tied to the version of the components installed. Please review the guide below, to ensure all addons are present in your install, and using the correct version for your UE build:
After any changes, I would also suggest a cache clear, as any stale/corrupt data left there will affect your project’s runtime. Please navigate to your project’s main directory, and delete the following folders:
/Intermediate
/Binaries
/Saved
/.vs
Also, go to your Local App Data, and clear contents at Microsoft\VisualStudio\VERSION\ComponentModelCache (version should be either 16.0 or 17.0). After that, reopen your project, and allow it to rebuild, then test for performance again.
