This might be really tricky for them to fix. Yesterday they had a live stream about First Person and the issues they’ve encountered, it seems that they’re using a ton of complicated workarounds to make first person work in Fortnite.
Would be great if they could fix this though, it could allow us to attach ‘custom gun’ models to the existing ones.
I watched that stream too! - Here’s a timestamp of what’s happening to some of your bones in First Person. (So this could definitely be related to that voodoo needed to adapt a third-person model to first person)
I did some quick tests and found attaching to ‘Custom Effect Socket’ “Base” to be the most stable. Although hopefully in the near future we wont need to abuse the VFX system to attach meshes. (Scene Graph save us?)
You can select to show vfx for other players only, it is likely the area around head/hands should be clear and should not distract from combat.
There are other ways to push some custom marks, for example verse ui or widgets. They can be placed in the screen corner and will not distract from combat.
