Summary

VFX systems are not playing in cinematic sequences, and they are also not showing up in game. Despite having the proper settings, VFX no longer work in cinematics in both published and unpublished versions of the project.

Steps to Reproduce

Load into project, view any VFX that are played via cinematic sequences. In this case, there is supposed to be a rift that appears on top of the device in the center.

Expected Result

VFX plays, both in editor and in game, as the “activate” node is supposed to do.

Observed Result

VFX do not properly play at all when activated by the cinematic. Transform, lights, and everything else seems to work properly, but VFX are specifically not working.

Additional Notes

We made no changes that could have potentially caused this issue to occur, and if we had, it would be working in a previously published version.

The island code above was uploaded before season launch, to which we have been experiencing these issues after the update released.

FORT-1143915’s status has changed to ‘Ready for QA’. A member of the QA department is investigating the issue.

I have been having the issue, it occurs on any graphic settings and happens with both old and new cinematics. Even using the default niagara vfx that UEFN gives us like the “Grenade Explosion” in a brand new cinematic yields the same results.

In this video you can see that the vfx works when you click the “auto activate” setting, but activating or triggering it during a cinematic does nothing.
