Very poor quality of asset textures

Good afternoon! The quality of asset textures suddenly dropped. The settings are set to maximum, virtual textures are disabled, and assets are downloaded as Nanite. I tried increasing the poolSize value, reinstalling the engine, updating the video card drivers, but all without any result. Please help me solve the problem!

If you open one of the textures in the texture editor, is it tiny? Then it’s probably the same problem everyone else is having with the Oodle compression plugin.

As far as I can see, your options are:

  1. Set each of them on β€˜sharpen0’

  2. Disable the plugin ( lot of shader compilation coming )

  3. Wait for it to get fixed

I’m sure you’ll fix it when you get around to it, but you have an extra space between ] and (

Welcome to the community btw

Edit: just remembered you won’t be able to edit until you’ve done the little tutorial thing with discobot
top right under your profile there’s a little mail icon, click that and you should see a message to start basics or something then after like a day and 3-5 posts or something you can edit

Greetings @Sanchez8151

Welcome to the Unreal Engine Community Forum. What Clockwork said is spot on, assuming that’s the same issue that you’re having. If their instructions don’t resolve the quality, post back and we can continue. Thanks!

Thanks! Fixed the error

Textures in the editor have a large size. I did everything according to your instructions, but the result is unchanged

Unfortunately, the instructions didn’t help, and the texture quality is still terrible

Yup, then I’m afraid they are just distance assets. There are a fair number of those in the MS collection. The aren’t meant to be walked right up to.

( it’s mostly the larger 3D assets ).

How big is this object?))

The same thing happens to this object

Yes, I’ve seen it before with MS assets.

The textures are great, but often the meshes don’t stand up to close inspection.

Regular shaped objects, like building parts, are pretty good, but stuff like cliff sections and rocks and generally like this.

If you can give me the MS name, I will take a look.

Are these the Nanite versions?

Yes, this is the Nanite version, Nordic Forest Ledge Rock Medium

This is as about as close as I can get

Closer and you get

Like I say, mid-distance

I apologize for being intrusive, but I am confident in the quality of this asset, because I used it when I was learning to make cinematics and its quality was excellent. But now it looks terrible, maybe the reason is something else?

This is Nordic Coast Collections

Do you have virtual shadow maps turned on… some of these settings have weird effects on some nanite stuff usually in the shadowing duh but might help as some of the shadows look ok and some look kinda broke

Worth trying if you can

I actually found the high version is better than the Nanite one?

I think they ( MS ) put the assets through some sort of automatic process to make the Nanite meshes from height maps, and it might not have worked that well…

Do you have an example of a similar wildlife asset that looks good at maximum zoom? I’d like to check it out at my place ))
