Hey guys,
I am using Houdini and exporting vertex animation sheets over to unreal. I have working position maps etc with my sprites looking as they should in UE4. Custom UV’s are also involved within my current material which help read the position data etc I believe. (So I may need more of these and to control it through their?)
(Vertex animation for movement of sprites) - I am trying to then use additional maps baked out of Houdini (age/velocity/lifespan - look similar to the position map that works)
In order to use velocity or age to drive particle color/texture’s (lerping between perhaps) - ive spent a few days experimenting but cant see to get anything to work well. A few cases I managed to get different textures on different sprites but with a very much lack of control and I wasn’t quite sure how I managed it either ahah.
Soo if anyone has done this before or knows of any resources which may help would be really appreciated
( I have been through the unreal documentation and all websites/links/forums related I can find - I imagine its because this is quite a new thing exporting from Houdini and so no-one may have any resources on it yet)
Thanks guys and apologies if this is a little confusing I’m fairly new to UE4 myself
[ If you don’t know what I mean google Houdini sprites animation textures and Luiz Kruel has various examples of sprites from Houdini in engine as I have ; but there is no more details on applying further textures for more texture/color/complete control of the sprites within the shader - Sprite Mode Test on Vimeo]
