Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a new Blank project in UEFN 42.30.
  2. Create a User Widget (UW_BugTest) with one Image named Bottom_Base (Slot Size 128x128).
  3. In the Variables tab, add a Verse field named BottomBase of type texture (default settings).
  4. Select Bottom_Base, open the View Bindings tab and click “+ Add Widget Bottom_Base”.
  5. Bind the Brush property to the function “Make Image Brush from Texture”.
  6. For the Image parameter, click the link icon and select UW_BugTest > BottomBase. Set Image Size to X=128, Y=128.
  7. Click Compile and read the Compilation messages.
  8. Collapse and re-expand the binding row.

Expected Result

The Image parameter stays linked to the Verse field BottomBase, so the Brush follows the texture assigned to that field at runtime.

Observed Result

The link to the Verse field is not saved. After step 8 the Image parameter shows “Select Asset” again. Compilation messages show:
MakeImageBrushFromTexture(, (X=128.000000,Y=128.000000), (R=1.000000,G=1.000000,B=1.000000,A=1.000000), NoTile)
with an empty Image argument, followed by: “This binding will only trigger ONCE whenever the value updates… To ensure it triggers EVERY time the value updates, turn on Field Notify on this variable.”
There is no Field Notify option for Verse fields in the Variables/Details panel (Details is empty when the field is selected).

Additional Notes

  • Reproduced in a fresh Blank project, Windows PC, UEFN 42.30.
  • Control: a float Verse field (BottomDim) bound to Render Opacity of the same Image saves correctly and works.
  • Same behavior as described in the forum thread “Verse Field binding issues in UMG View Bindings” (FORT-1142125, closed as unable to reproduce) and “In-World UI texture change not reflected in game” (FORT-1134071).
