Vehicle Clipping / Collision Failure (Octane)

Summary

Recently, the Octane (0ctane spawner device) has been experiencing severe collision detection issues with the terrain/ground meshes. When landing at an angled or sideways trajectory, the tires and parts of the chassis glitch and clip directly into the ground. This often causes the vehicle to get stuck, lose momentum, or bounce unpredictably.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Spawn the Octane and build up speed.
  2. Launch the vehicle into the air using a ramp or a jump.
  3. Tilt the car using Air Roll to force an angled or sideways landing.
  4. Observe the tires completely ignoring the ground mesh’s collision upon impact.

Expected Result

The vehicle should immediately bounce off or settle on top of the ground mesh without any visual or physical clipping below the surface.

Observed Result

The tires and lower chassis clip right through the ground surface. The physics engine fails to register the contact point of the tires correctly, causing the vehicle to sink into the terrain.

that’s so funny, we just posted about this within a minute of each other. I just noticed it floating above the ground; never got this clipping thing, but maybe that’s cause I’m just on normal creative tools.

That is crazy timing! It seems like the physics are a bit wonky right now. Actually, the Octane isn’t the only one floating – I noticed the Valhalla is doing the exact same thing. Might be a wider issue with how vehicles are interacting with the ground tools at the moment!

what’s the valhalla? I haven’t noticed this on any other vehicles
