Vector painting - how to to make mesh black before paint on materials?


I’ve been following this tutorial. vertex painting in Unreal 4 - part 2 textures - YouTube if you notice at the start the mesh has no texture on it before he starts to paint? I have the exact same node graph except my mesh starts with a texture instead of being black? It needs to not have any textures on it to start otherwise I wont be able to paint on it correctly.

How do I sort this out I’m quite stuck. If not does someone have a good texture painting node graph I can use - as the other youtube videos are quite basic.


Set your paint color to black, select all four channels, then use the paint bucket tool to flood-fill the model.
