Summary

I build my HLODs on a brand new map with a landscape and Fortnite walls. The error continually returns when I delete and rebuild HLODS. I have spent two days on this issue. Thank you so much for looking into this! Here are the Message Log Errors.

I get results by deleting the actual HLOD layer from the content browser, the Delete from the Build HLOD in the Build menu is a bit …hmmm… doesn’t work to well for my old dodgy map and my new one too now.

First Make a new HLOD layer in the content browser,
then delete your existing one, replace reference with the new one
don’t save at the save content from the next window.
After that I usually
Build Landscape, save project, Build HLODs, save content if prompted.

Been doing this everytime I build HLODs, maybe 15 times on one & the other is at NewHLODLayer9.
Have tried just building HLODs without total layer delete every so often but I just get Validation Fail.

Dang that is so many times. I wish that UEFN wouldnt have HLOD included in validation process. It is a unique situation.

I wonder if it fails validation because the client has to disconnect to build HLODs, thereby reconnecting causing a red flag with a drastic memory increase.

Yeah thats the stuff I got today,

it will still do it after a total HLODlayer delete
but about the fifth time I clicked the fix validation issues button it did fix them all and I carried on as normal and was able to publish an update

I did play around with it a bit before it worked, including double clicking on the level icon in the content browser and shutting down fortnite in the background,

Yeah that new validation stuff, had me worried for a while, my usual delete didn’t get rid of it, so I thought it was related.

You are so helpful I really enjoy collaborating and discussing these workarounds! Your advice helped me bypass the HLOD issue. Genius 🫵🏻 :wink: The deeper we dive in to the occurence the wider the possibilities expand and give us insight over the circumstance as a whole.

Process: I replaced the Build HLOD reference with the New HLOD Layer and deleted the Build HLOD Layer. At first this was unsuccessful. I repeated the process a few times. Saved, then launched a session. So far no “Validation Fix Up” error, message log, or output log validation errors.

Another thing is I have a Fortnite Client connection lost every time I push changes on new maps as soon as I add a few assets. :confused:

I guess HLODs are still giving me trouble each time, I get validation error, and the Meshes duplicate and flicker intersecting with the originals.

I keep trying this method. The game has severe lag. It s a brand new map with fortnite assets and started 20 fps as soon as I dropped a prefab in and deleted it.

Really strange that there is this much Lag. I am getting 20fps on a basic standard square landscape and a couple prefabs. No devices or anything.

Whenever I begin a map, this same issue occurs. I am gonna try to diagnose it and figure out what the issue could be. I built HLOD’s and would not show up in the outliner. I also have world streaming on but will not decrease Low fps.

Yeah the HLOD issues ???, seems even after a non HLOD related change they still give trouble.
Not so much genius, just not too much to troubleshoot.
All the awesome stuff in your maps Bubblebunz, there would be a lot to think about when an issue happens, it’s like I can come along and show the maths genius who’s looking at a complex formula, hey there’s an issue at the 1 + 1 bit.

But your new problem is terrible, 20fps on a standard template, with no devices… what is going on there ???.
