I built UTK to catch what usually gets through: the crash on an odd path, the test that fails one run in ten, the memory that grows every session, the frame time that crept up three commits ago.
UTK Pro puts fifteen tools behind one menu in the editor:
- Crash Hunter: a seeded bot plays your game and reports crashes, soft-locks and hangs, each with a repro bundle.
- Test Intelligence: scores tests from their history, separates flaky from always failing, keeps a quarantine list.
- Leak Sentinel and Perf Sentinel: which classes grew, and which budget broke.
- Blueprint Coverage and Replay Studio: which Blueprint nodes your tests ran, and tests recorded by playing.
- Device Bridge, Multiplayer and Playtest Reporter: run on a device, test a server with clients under packet loss, collect tester reports with evidence.
- Iteration Timer, Dependency Auditor, Live Coding Advisor, World Partition Audit, Upgrade Scanner and Source Control Health for the health of the project itself.
How it is put together
- Each tool is its own module with its own panel and documentation page. Tools do not depend on each other. Where one uses another (Crash Hunter’s Replay strategy, Device Bridge running hunts), the link is optional.
- Every tool opens inside the Hub or in its own window, and from Tools > UTK.
- The same tools are sold one by one on Fab. UTK Pro does not depend on them or on the free UTK Base and does not clash with them. Keep one Hub enabled (Pro or Base).
- The Hub makes no network request. Updates come through Fab.
- For CI there is a headless command that writes JUnit XML. The exit code is 0 when everything passed.
Honest limits
- Editor plugin. Windows (Win64) and Linux. Unreal Engine 5.5 to 5.8.
- Not a profiler, not a compiler. A clean Upgrade Scanner result does not prove an upgrade compiles.
- Crash Hunter hunts a Play In Editor session, with no gamepad or touch input.
- Device Bridge is not encrypted and needs a Development build, so use a trusted network.
- Multiplayer starts game processes on your machine, after you confirm.
UTK Base (the Hub, Test Explorer, Upgrade Scanner and Source Control Health) is free. If you own the earlier Unreal Test Kit 5, UTK Pro is your update, and the Hub has an upgrade button that renames the plugin and copies your data.
