Using particle system to represent pawn.

To start I’m pretty familiar with UE4 but I don’t often use Cascade/Niagara.
I’m creating a game where the player can spawn a floating pawn that is represented by a particle system as part of a “floating spirit” concept. The pawn will move around as a sphere and then turn into a platform (cube).
Should I be using a vector field to achieve this? What problems will I have attaching this to a pawn?
Any tips or tutorials on how to get started on this would be great.

Just make it an actual pawn if you want to do ‘pawny’ things to it.

But give it no mesh, just the particle system is the only visual element.
