Using Make Writable when deleting actors from scene does not delete the actors

We’re facing some weird behavior when trying to delete actors from our maps without checking them out in P4. When trying to use the “Make writable” option instead of checking the asset out, the actor comes back to the map after restarting the editor.

I’ve provided steps to reproduce with some additional notes about weird (in our opinion) behavior during the process.

It seems like the issue started occurring after upgrading to UE 5.8.0.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a project and set it up to use to Perforce source control
  2. Create a world partition map and place a few actors on it
  3. Save the map and the actors
  4. Submit the changes to P4 server
  5. Launch the map again and delete one of the actors. Once done, click ctrl + shift + s to save changes
  6. When prompted to check out the file associated with the actor, select “Make writable”
  7. Notice that there is a popup saying “Can’t clobber writable file: xxx” displayed [Image Removed]
  8. Note: After reloading the map, the actor stays deleted like everything was correctly processed
  9. Note 2: After restarting the editor, the actor appears back on the map
  10. Note 3: The file associated with the actor does not get deleted from local filesystem. It only looses its read only flag.
