Why not. If you are aiming for the so-called “true first person” than it’s the way to go. Also if you are making a single player game then you don’t really care how your character looks from the side. It can be something like this - v=FbOxieWCmDY or v=mv7MnV1SrZg
I think they use two separate meshes, whether full body or not. that’s just a guess tho, i’ve tried the put the camera to the head and it works up until my character looks up or down and the gun always has a clipping issue with the camera. unless their is a way to set it to where the camera does not clip into the gun and make a “hole” in the mesh of the weapon. id if i were you find a way that you can make the mesh of the weapon not have clipping issues with the camera and they you should be fine. sadly i’m not at my computer at home im at school right now and don’t have access to the engine so i could provide screenshots. =(
if you find a way to make it so that the mesh wont collide with the camera a create clipping issues please reply to this so others can see it including myself
Hope this helps and makes some what of sense to you.
I have test project with single character mesh only and it works, but is far from what I need, for example for full body awareness (or true fps), because this is very hard to do just, some limitations.
And about arma, you are wrong as I was. Maybe in Flashpoint was one mesh for character, I don’t remember, but in Arma 2 for example, you have separate meshes. You can see your legs but not torso. Is different model for fps and third person in arma, some reasons. I’m not sure about Arma 3, but this way they did it in Arma 2.
Arma 3 i believe it is just a head for the FPP and full body for the TPP, bc anytime you are in a vehicle and your head gets a little glitched you can see how the mesh for your body is all except your head. So maybe it is just the head, aram 3 if you look down with the free look (holding alt) you can see your body. but if you just look down you can only see like the top of your toes. The aim offset for it is through the pelvis, sorta like how Mocap Digital with the Rifle Anim Pack is for the aim offset.
Hi. This is interesting. I not played arma long time, just weeks ago fast checked how they deal with full body awareness and it was only legs, but I forgot check with alt and this is very good solution, because with full body awareness with normal movement - mouse free look, many problems, but with alt, player have limited possibilities and it can help a lot. I will use it now
