Using cloth on a character creator

I’m trying to implement dynamic clothing on a mesh that is being deformed in a character creator, but the cloth doesn’t seem to update. Specifically I’m testing using bone deformation to change the body of the player, but the cloth doesn’t appear to update to the new size of the character so it either looks too small and is colliding with a smaller Phat or it’s too big, both are behaving like the Phat isn’t changing size even though when I debug the collision it does appear to be scaling correctly.
