The option of “Use Async Scene” is greyed out for skeletal meshes. I’ve enabled async scene in the project settings, and the option is available for static meshes, but not skeletal meshes.

This issue was already logged, however, I updated the ticket to include details from this post as well as noted that you could select “use Async Scene” under Physics in the Detail Panel of a skeletal mesh in UE4.14. You can track the progress of this bug by clicking on the following link: UE-39829.
