USD Stage Editor - Changing Intensity Units of multiple lights at once causes wrong conversions

Hello,

We noticed that when using the USD Stage Editor, and using *live* lights, we are able to select more of them at once and change the Intensity Units all at once - which was helpful to us.

Unfortunately, it seems that only the first selected light undergoes a correct unit conversion, all other lights only have their unit type changed, while keeping the same number, which is incorrect.

To give an example, we select two lights:

Correct values:

L1 Nits = 20

L1 Lumens = 789.xxx

L2 Nits = 80

L2 Lumens = 3158.xxx

After selecting L1 first, and then L2, (but together, with CTRL), which are originally in Lumens and then converting them to Nits, we get the following values:

L1 Nits = 20 (correct)

L2 Nits = 3158.xxx (incorrect) - Only the Intensity Unit changed, but the number stayed the same - it should have been 80 nits.

I hope this is clear enough, if it is not, please let me know and I can provide a video.

It’s important to mention that if the lights are imported, this operation becomes impossible, as you can not change the Intensity Units of more lights at once.

Thanks,

Vladimir

Steps to Reproduce
Hello,

  1. Import an USD via the USD Stage Editor that contains multiple lights
  2. With the Stage opened (Not Imported!), select multiple lights
  3. Change the Intensity Units of all selected lights
  4. You will see that only the initially selected light has a correct conversion, the rest are wrong - what actually happens is that the rest of the selected lights don’t undergo the Lumen -> Nits mathematical conversion, but they only change the unit type without changing the number, which is wrong

Hi Vladimir,

Thanks for reporting this issue. I’ve logged a jira for it for the Editor team to investigate. Note that this is not specific to the USD Stage Editor. It still happens with lights you place manually in the level and following your repro steps.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply - we will then be careful with manually placed lights as well.

Kind regards,

Vladimir
