Since the new creative update adding the Chapter 5 weapons every NEW map I make in UEFN gives very bad lag when moving the character sideways or backwards. I have even published a map and the issue is still there so it is not just in the UEFN test game session.
Steps to Reproduce
Open a new project in UEFN, launch session to get in to game, move character sideways or backwards (A, S, or D keys). You can see the lag even more when swinging a pickaxe while moving sideways or backwards.
Expected Result
When doing this there should be no lag and should be the same as moving forward.
Observed Result
When doing this it generates tons of lag in the map and everything starts stuttering.
Ye i was going nuts, i only have it in my new (creative) 1.0 map (so itâs not exclusive to UEFN). I was puzzled cause moving forward is smooth and framerate is steady 120. And my older maps are unaffected. I hope I dont need to make a new map cause i made pretty progress.
If I had to take a completely uneducated guess I believe this is due to the serverâs anticipated player movement speed disagreeing with the clientâs configured movement speed; Islands made in 28.20 now have the new setting âMovement Speed Tuningsâ in the island settings defaulted to âCurrent BRâ whereas existing islands take the setting âCh 4 Movementâ. I would guess that âCurrent BRâ moves slightly slower left/right and the server expects the player to move slightly faster/slower left/right which causes stuttering as your position is modulated slightly to correct.
This is happening for me also. Itâs impossible to test the performance of maps when thereâs a bug like this. Needs to be fixed ASAP!
All you have to do to reproduce this is create a new project and strafe left/right or move backwards. It only happens when moving left/right/backwards. Affects controller and keyboard. Moving forward causes no stutters.
So glad this isnt just me! Ive wasted 2 days trying to fix this as I thought it was an issue with my map!!! I did learn that you dont get any lag if you dont add island settings but thats not really any help
An urgent bug fix is underway for the movement bug affecting new maps created in UEFN. Swift resolution is crucial to ensure smooth gameplay and maintain user satisfaction.
I have switched back to the Ch4 Movement and the strafe lag went away! I was going nuts, I thought something is wrong with my mapâŚIt was ALL good before I enabled Current BR movement setting.
